PitchyourScreenplay.com

PitchyourScreenplay.com

I’d like to introduce PitchyourScreenplay, a service that offers to sell your scripts to big name producers in the entertainment industry. Perfect for those who don’t have the time to market their scripts (or screenplays) or just don’t have the experience and connections to do so. Think your script has what it takes to be the next hit? Then for a small fee (and subscription), they will take it to some of the biggest production companies and producers and pitch it for you.

For this small budget site, I went minimal with a corporate-paper look to reflect the professionalism of this business. It’s built on Wordpress with the help of some plugins and topped off with a Paypal IPN-MySQL processing setup to support file uploads for the order form. Admitedly, I was hoping that I’d be able to integrate Wordpress’ user-registration system into the template itself (in keeping the site consistent to the customer).

Octoblog v2.0

Octoblog v2.0

Complains about the theme I hastily develop for Octobox centered around the immature image presented. Cute graphics help impress the instructor, but during the SFU Open House 2008, we found that the older demographic has more interest in the project. And so, with the website deadline coming up, I hammered out a significantly compliant website and whipped out a brand new theme that featured the existing Octobox graphics and deep ocean colors from our mascot.

Admittedly, only the blog is functional at the moment. I hope to get the rest of the content up and running over the next couple of weeks

Submission Series Experimental Template

Submission Series Experimental Template

The Submission Series is a no-points format wrestling tournament held a couple of times a year around BC. It features some of the best grapplers around while the rules format fosters an all-out style of play. This website was built using Wordpress and features a clean black-white theme that represents the straightforward nature of this tournament- you win by submission. The content is basic but more stuff will be added soon.

I didn’t expect some of my web buddies having difficulty getting MooTools to work. Well, the solution was downright simple- The demo page has a READ HERE FIRST that clearly states that a piece of extra code has to be added to the existing javascript for all the demos. :)

Be careful with URL legibility

Be careful with URL legibility

We use underscores and dashes to circumvent the no-spaces rule when it comes to URLs. But when it comes to a domain names, everyone prefers to have the individual words combined. However, we should be careful with how you mix and match words. This photo was featured in a Treehugger post and the thing is, I thought the site was RECHARGELT, not RECHARGE IT. After all, base on the post I thought that, rechar-gelt, sound French enough for me. But then I noticed the California license plate and and had second thoughts. It technically also reads RECHARGE-IT, which makes more sense in the state of California. Taking the jump confirmed my suspicions… (read more)

Markup valid and photoblog!

Markup valid and photoblog!

W3C’s notorious markup validation service is hard to please. I finally got the blog template to pass but I had to give up on trying to manipulate Wordpress’ more_text_link setup which when compared with the rest of the WP templating system, just outright sucks. I can’t seperate it from the content or enclose it in a block element.

Try the W3C Markup Validator if you haven’t. The error reports are some of the most confusing I’ve seen but once you get the hang of it, you will be able to figure out what actually needs to be fix. Also installed Yet-Another-Photoblog (read more)
